BITSAT Eligibility Criteria
Who all should appear for the BITSAT Exams?
More than 7 lakh students compete for about 2000 seats accessible through BITSAT every year. Only students who have cleared 10+2 from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent in the previous year or are appearing for the exams in the current year are eligible for appearing in BITSAT. BITSAT eligibility criteria is somehow different from those of other competitive exams. Students must fulfill the required eligibility for BITSAT exam.
The basic requirement for a candidate to appear in BITSAT- 2011 is that he/ she has passed class 12th with at least 80% aggregate marks. And also the candidate needs to have scored 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English individually.
Only those candidates who have passed class 12th in 2010 or are appearing for class 12th board examination in 2011 are eligible to appear for BITS-2011 Admission Test.
Students aspiring for BITSAT also need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Students should have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at 10+2 level.
- In board examinations, they should score at least 80% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and at least 60% marks in each of these subjects.
- They should have acceptable proficiency in English.
- Students who are already studying in any of the BITS campus at present are not eligible for BITSAT.
First rankers in their respective boards at 10+2 level who meet the above-state eligibility criteria are guaranteed admission in any course of their choice, irrespective of their marks in BITSAT and respective position in BITSAT merit list. How many times you can give the exam?
Only those students who have cleared 10+2 board examinations in the previous year or are appearing for their board examinations in the current year are eligible for BITSAT. Students are also not allowed to give BITSAT twice in the same year.
Hence, a candidate can only appear twice for BITSAT – once in the year he or she give his or her 10+2 board examinations and again in the next year.
